Greater Savannah is keen to supporting children and the entire youth in Savannah-Chatham communities. It is a challenge that current afterschool programs are dispersed and lack a community-wide coordination and undefined funding sources. The youth of Savannah, especially our in-school and out of school youth want things. This virtual resource intends to address the questions of access, need and quality of exiting afterschool initiatives and propose a design and coordination strategies for a City-wide and County youth offering systems. This collaboration will support the Greater Savannah community by improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of afterschool summer learning efforts.
Afterschool and summer learning are great ways to boost learning – hands-on or online, at the park or in a laboratory, educational or recreational. Over the summer, Savannah youth will have a portal to search for and get engaged in day camps or other learning activities get an academic boost. Community partners are working together so that all Savannah-Chatham youth get informed, grow through new experiences and maintain the skills they learned in school, whilst leading pathways to sustainable employments.
